School Pastors – Supporting Young People.

Project Description

School PastorsTiM has been partnering with The Willink School since May 2013 to provide a School Pastor service.

Small teams of volunteer School Pastors walk around the school and its locality twice a week. The aim is to be available to listen to, help and care for students, in a totally inclusive way, and to help calm difficult situations. All School Pastors are fully trained and wear a distinctive jacket and cap, similar to Street Pastors. Both initiatives are pioneered and licensed by the Ascension Trust.

The Willink is a very successful 1000 plus secondary school in Burghfield Common, near Reading. The scheme was extended after Easter 2015 to the Garland Junior School, Burghfield Common, as part of TiM’s vision to support our local schoolchildren throughout their school careers.

School Pastors are drawn from local churches of different denominations, and are there to patrol at lunchtimes and after school to help and offer support, not to evangelise.

“We can talk to you School Pastors and know we can trust you …. you’re cool!” Willink student
